Never Forget
My how time flies… It has been an interesting 5 years, hasn’t it? Five years ago this month (at least in my region) COVID-19 struck. There was so much fear of the unknown and fear around what it would do to us and our loved ones. Fear of toilet paper shortages and how on earth we were supposed to keep ourselves safe.
The first year, 2020, was full of “social distancing” and masks and avoiding most general human contact. Then in 2021 the vaccines were released. That is when I noticed an interesting change.
Yes, I saw some new health issues pop up but the biggest thing I noticed was that new patients started coming in more than usual. And my practice was not the only one! Every natural health care practitioner I spoke with noticed the same thing!
What we were noticing was that the American public had decided that they needed to take an active role in their health! People were tired of living in fear and wanted to do something proactive for their health instead of simply staying reactive. Western medicine is most often utilized after a problem occurs. When people started realizing that our bodies are made to heal, they chose to seek out natural health care providers and start to prevent problems before they occur!
You may have even been one of these people! I knew each one of you that came in during this time was ready for a real change and wanted to take back your own healing power that God gave you. You wouldn’t have sought out help during this time if you didn’t!
So why did I chose the title for this article? “Never Forget”
When something life altering happens in this country we often tag it with: “Never Forget.” But after time goes on, we often forget anyway and we need a bit of a reminder. Consider this your gentle reminder. Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten that your body is designed to heal?
Have you forgotten that your immune system is more powerful than any man made medicine?
Have you forgotten that your body needs regular care and maintenance?
Have you forgotten that no one else cares more about your body than you?
Have you forgotten that you are the one who decides what kind of health care you desire?
Have you forgotten that a government cannot take care of you?
Have you forgotten that your loved ones need a good example and guidance in their health journey as well? Have you told them what you know?
Recipe of the Month:
I have been reminding patients of this recipe. It is great for Keto or low carb eating. I had someone tell me that these “tasted like Christmas.” If you like ‘Fire Ball’ candy, you’ll love these! The amount of cinnamon oil should be good for most people but to get it hotter, add more! I keep these in the freezer and any time I feel like I want a treat I have them at the ready. They also are good in the refrigerator but I like them a bit crunchier. They will be way too soft if left out on the counter. I hope you enjoy! -Dr. Smith
Cinnamon White Chocolate
Ingredients
2 tbsp coconut oil (I used refined coconut oil so no coconut taste)
2 tbsp unsalted butter or ghee
2 oz cocoa butter (you can find this online, I used Amazon)
¼ tsp vanilla extract (add more to taste)
¼ tsp cinnamon oil (add more to taste) (you can find this online, I used Amazon)
1 pinch salt
Directions
Melt coconut oil, butter and cocoa butter in sauce pan over medium low heat.
Remove from heat and mix in vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. You can taste some now to see if you need to add more vanilla and cinnamon oil. Taste will be even better when it is cold.
Spoon into silicone molds and put in refrigerator/freezer until hard. I use small ice cube silicone molds but you can also use silicone candy molds for fun shapes.
